About Us
Dempster Diggers is a locally owned earthmoving and excavation business based in Hikurangi and working across Whangarei and the wider Northland region. Since 1999, we’ve been hauling, digging, grading and cleaning up for residential, rural and commercial customers who want practical earthworks done right the first time.
We’re a small, experienced team that understands Northland soils, weather and terrain. Our machinery is well maintained and suited to local conditions, helping us work efficiently and leave every site tidy and ready for the next stage. Straightforward communication, reliable timeframes and practical planning sit at the heart of how we operate.
We can access a wide range of equipment when needed, making sure your job doesn’t cost more than it should or take longer than it has to. Safety is important to us and we’re proud of our strong record across earthmoving, excavation, drainage and general property improvements.
Local Involvement and Community Support
Dempster Diggers is an active part of the local Hikurangi and wider Northland community. We’re long‑standing members of the Hikurangi Business Association and regularly support local events such as the Hikurangi Christmas Parade, the Whangarei Deep Sea Anglers Club and the Hikurangi Daffodil Day Tournament.
Kevin Dempster was instrumental in establishing the Hikurangi Machinery Clearance Auction, which raised more than ten thousand dollars for community projects and helped kickstart further local initiatives. He’s also the first to put his hand up when the community needs a digger, fixing the potholes in the carpark before the Christmas parade.
Dempster Diggers is more than just a local earthworks business. Kevin is a bloody good buggar who shows up, gets stuck in and genuinely cares about the people and places he works with.
